Sometimes you read a story that sets you right in the seat of a chicken bus. “[Switchback 1994](http://www.guernicamag.com/fiction/switchback-1994/?ref=joemilanjr.com)” is one of those stories. You start off on a bus, on a mountain of rural China, and you dive in to a tragedy and a story that sticks with you. [Jack Livings](http://jacklivings.com/?ref=joemilanjr.com) is a guy who has been traveling a while, and you can tell in his writing. Check him out.

I hope to carve out some time in a few weeks to take a closer look at the story, but for now: read and enjoy.
